Bio

Being a native of Birmingham, Alabama has motivated Margaret Balliet in a unique manner. She taught herself to question her surroundings and challenge the establishment. Do not accept the status quo and constantly strive for knowledge.

Margaret is a graduate of Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts where she studied film and photography. She has lived in Massachusetts, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Utah, Wyoming and Hawaii. Her passion for traveling and thirst for knowledge have motivated her to seek out new experiences.

She has traveled internationally and volunteered her time for numerous causes. After being in Southeast Asia during the tsunami Margaret got involved with relief work abroad. Upon her return home she became involved in a grassroots organization operating in Bay St. Louis after Katrina. Through film, photography and generosity Margaret has sought to educate others regarding her experiences.

On December 9th, while traveling from Santa Fe to Birmingham, Margaret was involved in car collision that almost killed her, in Amarillo Texas, where she was admitted to ICU for a severe head injury until early January.  Margaret was air-lifted to Atlanta, Georgia to a renowned facility called The Shepherd
Center, catering specifically to the care of catastrophic head injuries.
